Text Styles
If you find yourself often using a specific style of text, say perhaps 56pt. blue Copperplate Bold for example, you should give
Text Styles a try.
Text Styles will automatically change all the font characteristics from what they were to whatever preset you've clicked on. We've given you some presets to experiment with such as "clear formatting" and "Bold Shadow" but lets talk about making a new one.
- Select some text
- Set font how you like by using Format->Font->Show Fonts
- Open up the Text Styles palette by choosing Window->Palettes->Text Styles
- With the text still selected press the gear in the upper left corner of the palette
- Choose "Add Current Style"
- Give you're style a name
- Notice that you're style has been added to the Text Style palette
It takes a little time to set up, but if you use consistent formatting, this will save you a lot of time in the future.
How Styles Interact with Other Styles
There are two ways of having your new text style be applied to the text you've selected. It can either have it add to whatever formating already exists, or you can have it replace the other formating. Using the examples that are come with VoodooPad, if we choose
Strike Through then
Bold Shadow the text will become both bold with a shadow and have a strike through it.
On the other hand,
Clear Formatting will replace all the other styles you have set up on the text and set it to the default font type for your document.
If you want your new text style to replace all others choose
Replace Current Style after giving your style a name using the previous steps. If you want it to just add to whatever else is going on, choose
Add Current Style.
