Exporting
Exporting as RTFD
To export your pages as individual Rich Text Format Directory documents, choose
File->Export->Export as RTFD files… and hit the Export button.
You will most likely want to create a new folder, as VoodooPad will export each page as an individual document. Saving it straight to the desktop is most likely a bad idea.
If you open up one of the documents in TextEdit you'll notice that everything looks exactly like it did inside of VoodooPad, with the exception that all of the links that you've created to another pages won't work. TextEdit unfortunately doesn't support linking between TextEdit Documents. You're links to the internet, however, will still work.
Exporting as Plain Text
To export your pages as individual plain text documents, choose File->Export->Export as Text… and hit the Export button.
You will most likely want to create a new folder, as VoodooPad will export each page as an individual document. Saving it straight to the desktop is most likely a bad idea.
Documents will be saved without any fonts, pictures, or links.
Exporting as XML
To export your pages as a
XML document, choose
File->Export->Export as XML… and hit the Export button.
You can now open up the
XML file and do with it whatever your heart desires. Possible suggestions for uses of this export option:
- To make a backup of your document
- To combine one document with another --Read more about that on the the Combining Documents page.
- To create a document that can be parsed and read by other applications (advanced use)
Exporting to iPod
To export your pages to your
iPod, choose
File->Export->Export to iPod… with your iPod plugged into your computer. Now simply navigate the iPod to
Extras->Notes and you will see the name of the document listed as a note. Clicking on it will let you view and navigate through it!
This doesn't work with iPhones, iPod Touches or iPod Shuffles.
Export Page
Choosing
File->Export Page As... will allow you to quickly export the page you're currently viewing as either HTML, RTFD, Plain Text, or as a Word Document. This is the quickest way to send a page to a non-VoodooPad using friend.
Web Export
To export your files for viewing as HTML choose
File -> Export Document -> Web Export
- Choose a place to put the files on your computer by choosing an output directory
- Choose a style for how the pages will look by choosing a web export plugin
- Press the ? for a preview of the template you've chosen
- Press Export when you're ready to export the document
Note: Larger VoodooPad documents can take longer to export
If you're looking to take web export to the next level, customize your own templates, or do some more advanced things, check out the page on

Splitting a Document page.
Send To
The
Plugin -> Send To menu option lets you send whatever page you're looking at to a given application.
We'll need to start by adding some aliases to our
Send To folder so that we have somewhere to send things.
You can find the
Send To folder in
~/Library/Application Support/VoodooPad/Send To/
Now we'll need to drag something in to it. You can add aliases of applications, shell scripts, or aliases of folders to the
Send To folder. Once they've been added to this folder they will be magically added to the menu in VoodooPad.
Aliases can be created by selecting an application from your applications folder in the Finder and selecting
File -> Make Alias. You can then drag that into the
Send To folder.
VoodooPad allows you to embed lots of different kind of documents and view them right inside VoodooPad. If you want to open them up in other applications, simply add that application to the
Send To folder. When you're ready to view the file, open it in VoodooPad, select
Plugin -> Send To and select the application that you would like to open that file in.
