Keyboard Shortcuts
If you often find your self using your mouse to change the current tool you are using, you might be able to speed up your process by memorizing some key keyboard shortcuts. If you forget which key goes to which function, take a look at the menus. Here's a few of them:
Tools
<tab>: Hide / show the palette.
v: Select the Move tool.
c: Select the Crop tool.
m or s: Select the Select tool. Pressing m multiple times will cycle through the rect, oval, and lasso selection tools.
b: Select the Pencil tool.
k: Select the Fill tool.
l: Select the Lasso tool.
g: Select the Gradient tool.
i: Use the Eyedropper tool, to pickup a color on the canvas.
e: Select the Eraser tool.
z: Select the Zoom tool.
o: Select the Oval Shape tool.
r: Select the Rectangle Shape tool.
t: Select the Text tool.
spacebar: Switch to the hand tool momentarily, to move the canvas around if you are zoomed in.
]: Increase brush size in whole numbers. Hold down the option key to increment in fractions.
[: Decrease brush size in whole numbers. Hold down the option key to decrement in fractions.
x: Swap the fill and stroke colors.
d: Resets the fill and stroke colors to black and white.
Layers
0,1–9: Pressing the number keys will cycle the current layer through various levels of transparency.
option-delete: Fill the current selection or canvas with foreground color.
option-shift-delete: Fill the current selection or canvas with background color.
control-]: Select next layer
control-[: Select previous layer
Menus
f: Toggle between full screen mode.
commad +: Zoom in.
command -: Zoom out.
command F: Perform last filter again.
command A: Select all.
esc or command D: Remove selection.
Misc
shift-drag This will constrain the oval or rectangle selections and shapes to squares and circles.
delete: Deletes contents of currently selected layer
command-shift-6: Captures screenshot and imports it into Acorn.
