Going Further with Filters

image
Filters are an amazingly easy way to change your image in origanal and unique ways. With a little bit a fiddling, these filters can create things you didn't even imagine. To bring up the filter window, simply pick a filter. In the example above, Gaussian Blur was chosen. Imediately the image that was being worked on will change to reflect the filter that has been applied to it. You can also press the triangle next to the preview box to pull out another preview window with the image scaled.
image
The power of the Filter Window comes in stacking filters together to make workflows. Clicking the plus button on the green bar at the bottom of the filter will bring up a prompt with a list of all the filters and let you pick another one.
image
Now the image that you see is the result of a Gaussian Blur and then a Hexagonal Pixellate. You can also drag the filters around to change the order of operations. The image below is produced by doing a Hexagonal Pixellate followed by a Gaussian Blur. If you decided you don't like the filter that you've chosen, the red X will delete it.

Some filters have controls that can be manipulated by dragging a center point in the preview window. Notice in the image below, the Affine Clamp filter has an origin point in the bottom left corner of the image. Dragging this around will produce different results.

Try messing around with some of the filters and experiment, experiment, experiment. For more information, check out the Tips and Tricks Page or send us an email and request a tutorial.
