Work Area
The place where you do your typing is called the Work Area and is relatively straight forward. It should look like just about every other text editor you've worked with.
The work area can be enlarged one of 3 ways. You can click on the bottom right corner of the screen to adjust it however you see fit.
You can click the rightmost button in the top to make the window as big as the screen.
Or you can choose View ▸ Full Screen to go into a full screen mode.
